It has happened each year for the last 13 years. It happens in Nauvoo. It’s for women. What is it? The annual Nauvoo Women’s Retreat.

What is the purpose for the event? It is a time for women to gather and make or renew friendships, to spend time with sisters or daughters, to be spiritually fed and uplifted, as well as visiting Historic Nauvoo and the Nauvoo Temple, all with the purpose of drawing closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. The organizers and presenters did just that……from beginning to end.

Each year, the Retreat features a different theme. This year was all about the choices we make that drive us, change us, impacting our life’s journey as we influence those around us.

There were tender moments when stories of life’s trials were recounted. There was laughter at memes shared, jokes told, and games played. There was music that touched heartstrings. There was plenty of food, friendship, and fun during the 2-day event, which included a re-enactment of the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo organization in 1842 held at Joseph Smith’s Red Brick Store.

If you want a special reason to come to Nauvoo to celebrate Relief Society’s sisterhood, this might be the trip you want to plan. Definitely worth the trip.
