Not all amazing images are planned shots. Amazing photos often result during a regular outing (going to the store, for a walk, getting the mail) or at the end of a scheduled photo session. This image of our beautiful Nauvoo Temple was captured after our sleigh ride on a clear—and very cold, winter day in Historic Nauvoo.
We left the visitor’s center parking lot and as we neared the corner, Tom looked over at the temple on the hill…..then stopped the car in the middle of the snow-bank lined street, grabbed his camera, and waded through a snow drift to snap several shots.
My thoughts were, “Oh, that’s pretty. Hurry. We’re stopped in the road.” (It was 15 degrees out—no traffic that day so no traffic jam possible!) When we arrived home (after more photos of course!), Tom showed me the images and then my jaw dropped. Wow! What a stunning piece of art!
This fabulous Nauvoo Temple image has become one of my all-time favorites. Actually, it is on my list of top 10 favorite images by my favorite photographer, maybe even the top 5. It was worth the stop.
